Dubai is famous for fast cars, world-class horse racing and traditional camel races – and each of these sports has its own very different racing venue. Our Dubai Racing Track Map introduces some of the best-known racing tracks in Dubai and helps you find the right location, whether you want to experience motorsport, horse racing or Camel Racing Dubai.
The maps below show you where the different race tracks are located and can help you plan the route and distance from your location in Dubai. But the tracks themselves are worth a closer look, because each represents a very different side of Dubai’s racing culture.
Dubai Autodrome – Motorsport in MotorCity
If your idea of racing involves engines rather than horses or camels, the Dubai Autodrome is the place to start. Located in MotorCity, the venue opened in 2004 and has become one of the best-known motorsport facilities in the UAE.
At its heart is an FIA-sanctioned 5.39-kilometre Grand Prix circuit. The facility can be used in several different configurations and has hosted international and regional racing events as well as track days and other motorsport activities.
Dubai Autodrome shows the modern side of racing in Dubai: purpose-built, technical and unmistakably focused on speed.
Meydan Racecourse – The Home of the Dubai World Cup
Meydan Racecourse represents another side of Dubai’s passion for racing. This is the city’s flagship horse racing venue and the home of the famous Dubai World Cup.
The modern Meydan Racecourse opened in 2010, replacing the former Nad Al Sheba Racecourse. Its enormous grandstand stretches for around 1.6 kilometres and can accommodate more than 60,000 spectators.
On major race days, Meydan is about more than horses crossing a finishing line. Racing, hospitality, fashion and international visitors come together here, making the venue one of Dubai’s major sporting destinations.
Jebel Ali Racecourse – A Different Horse Racing Experience
Jebel Ali Racecourse offers a different atmosphere from the enormous Meydan complex. Located on the Dubai–Abu Dhabi Road, the racecourse has long been part of Dubai’s horse racing scene.
For visitors interested in horse racing, Jebel Ali therefore provides another side of the sport and is worth distinguishing from Meydan rather than treating Dubai’s horse racing venues as if they were all the same.
Dubai Racing Club and Meydan
The Dubai Racing Club is closely connected with Meydan Racecourse and Dubai’s international horse racing calendar. Meydan is the flagship venue of the club and hosts the Dubai Racing Carnival as well as the Dubai World Cup.
The Dubai World Cup has developed into one of the city’s best-known international sporting events. For visitors planning to attend a race, it is worth checking the current racing calendar before travelling to Meydan, as race days and event schedules change throughout the season.
Camel Racing Dubai – Where Tradition Meets Modern Racing
And then there is a completely different kind of racing. Anyone who wants to discover a sport with much deeper roots in the history of the region should make the journey to one of Dubai’s camel racing tracks.
Camel Racing Dubai combines Emirati tradition with a surprisingly modern racing environment. Today’s racing camels are professionally trained, while remotely controlled robot jockeys have become one of the most distinctive features of the sport.
Al Marmoom is one of the best-known places to experience camel racing in Dubai. For visitors who have already seen the skyscrapers, shopping malls and beaches, a morning at the camel races can reveal a very different side of the emirate.
Which Dubai Racing Track Should You Visit?
There is no single racing experience in Dubai. Motorsport fans will naturally be drawn to Dubai Autodrome, while Meydan is the city’s major destination for international horse racing. Jebel Ali offers another established horse racing venue, while Al Marmoom introduces visitors to the much older tradition of camel racing in the UAE.
That contrast is precisely what makes Dubai’s racing scene so interesting. Within one emirate, visitors can move from a modern FIA racing circuit to one of the world’s best-known horse racing venues and then into the desert surroundings of a traditional camel race.
Use our Dubai Racing Track Map to compare the locations and plan your route. If camel racing is your main interest, continue to Camel Racing Dubai for more information about race tracks, racing dates, traditions and visiting a camel race in Dubai.
